From Fields of Gold by Alexandra Ripley

Book Number:RC 39872
467 pages on 12 sides

read by Yvonne Fair Tessler

Nate Richardson, a North Carolina tobacco farmer, travels to Virginia to
acquire the patent for a cigarette-rolling machine from Mr. Augustus
Standish. The price tag is marriage to Mr. Standish’s granddaughter Chess.
This marriage of convenience becomes a business partnership that puts Nate
on top of the tobacco industry. But the marriage is in danger when his past
comes back to haunt him. Some strong language and some descriptions of sex.

Beautifully written, full of interesting characters and history of the
tobacco industry. I really enjoyed this one. Ripley is the author of
"Scarlet". I give this book a 5 out of 5.

Happy reading,

Carla/TexasRed
